AI Junior Training Slides: Neural Networks for Kids and Creative AI (IEEE CS Region 8 AI Caravan, Sessions 4 and 6)

Training slide decks with full presenter notes for two 2-hour online sessions of the AI Junior track of the IEEE Computer Society Region 8 AI Caravan, a 24-hour introduction to artificial intelligence for school students. Session 4, "Neural Networks for Kids: How the Brain Inspired AI", explains neurons, artificial neurons, weights and thresholds, network layers and how AI learns through guess-check-fix training. It uses age-appropriate games, a worked weighted-decision example, a "Banana Detector" activity and a Teachable Machine lab. Session 6, "Creative AI: Exploring AI-Generated Art and Music", introduces generative AI, prompt writing, how image models turn noise into pictures, and how music AI predicts the next note. Hands-on activities use free, sign-up-free tools (Quick, Draw!, AutoDraw, Blob Opera and Chrome Music Lab Song Maker) and end with an AI-assisted "album cover" mini project and a lesson on using creative AI responsibly. Each deck is provided as an editable PowerPoint file and a PDF. The presenter notes include minute-by-minute timings, scripts, activity instructions and quiz answers, so other instructors can reuse and adapt the sessions. Session topics follow the AI Junior track curriculum of the IEEE CS Region 8 AI Caravan. The slides were prepared with the assistance of an AI tool (Claude by Anthropic). They were reviewed and delivered by the author.
