ANALISIS PENGELOLAAN LIMBAH MEDIS PADAT DI RS HERMINA DAAN MOGOT TAHUN 2026
Solid medical waste contains hazardous and toxic materials (B3) which, if not handled according to established standards, can pose risks of infection, workplace accidents, and environmental pollution. This study aims to examine the management of solid medical waste at Hermina Daan Mogot Hospital in 2026, covering human resources (HR), segregation, containment, transportation, temporary storage, as well as treatment and disposal, in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry Number 6 of 2021. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed from May to July 2026, utilizing in-depth interviews, observations, and document reviews, along with method and source triangulation involving four informants selected via purposive sampling. The aspects of human resources, containment, temporary storage, and treatment/disposal were found to meet the requirements: staff are present during every shift and receive monthly training; color-coded containers are equipped with lids, labels, and hazardous/toxic material (B3) symbols; the temporary storage facility consists of a permanent structure with impermeable flooring; and disposal is carried out by a licensed third party, governed by a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and waste manifests. Conversely, waste segregation remains inconsistent due to improper disposal practices, and internal transportation is not yet fully compliant, as there are no dedicated transport routes and freight elevator access is limited. Oversight of waste segregation needs to be strengthened, and designated transport routes that avoid contact with patients and visitors must be established.
