An Invitation to the Cathedral: An Introduction to the Theory of Institutional Development

This introductory white paper presents An Invitation to the Cathedral, an invitation to independently examine the developing Theory of Institutional Development (TID).TID investigates whether the conditions enabling future responsible evaluation are influenced by earlier institutional evaluation and stewardship across time. The paper introduces the provisional reciprocal temporal relationship between Responsible Evaluation and Stewardship, six exploratory candidate measurement dimensions, competing explanations from established organizational scholarship, and proposed longitudinal and adversarial research designs. The framework is conceptual and has not been independently validated. No claim of established theoretical novelty, predictive superiority, or causal confirmation is made. The paper identifies limitations, possible disconfirming evidence, and questions for future independent research.Human author and research originator: Craig PetersResearch development and editorial collaboration: ChatGPT (OpenAI), known as “Soul” within the project's private collaboration history. Abstract
