GREEN ORGANIZATIONAL RESOURCES AND SUSTAINABLE PERFORMANCE IN PAKISTAN’S HEALTHCARE SECTOR: THE MEDIATING ROLE OF GREEN PASSION

The present study focused on how the Green Intellectual Capital (GIC), Green Transformational Leadership (GTL), and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) affect the Sustainable Performance (SP) of the healthcare industry in Pakistan through the mediating role of employees' Green Passion. The proposed model is based on the theories of Resource Based View combined with Organizational Learning Theory (OLT) in the process of how organizational resources and capabilities are translated to sustainable outcomes via a psychological mechanism at the employee level. The research design used was positivist, deductive, quantitative and cross-sectional. The data was collected from 350 employees and 145 HR and management representatives from selected public and private healthcare organizations. Partial least squares structural equation modelling was used to evaluate the measurement and structural models. The results showed that Green Intellectual Capital, Green Transformational Leadership and Corporate Social Responsibility had significant positive effects on Sustainable Performance and Green Passion. Sustainable Performance was also a positive influence on Green Passion and all three relationships were partially mediated by Green Passion. Also, Green Human Resource Management had a significant positive impact on Sustainable Performance. The study contributes to the Resource-Based View by showing that organizational resources contribute to organizational performance via an operational and psychological route. It provides hands-on advice for healthcare managers on green knowledge systems, leadership, responsible actions, employee motivation and HR policies. It is original in the sense that it brings together 3 organizational antecedents, Green Passion and multidimensional Sustainable Performance in a multi-source healthcare world in a developing-country context.
