Perceived Ease of Use and Behavioural Intention in Xuexitong-Assisted English Learning: The Mediating Role of Perceived Enjoyment Among Vocational Agriculture Students

Drawing on the Technology Acceptance Model with its hedonic extension, this study investigates whether perceived enjoyment mediates the relationship between perceived ease of use and behavioural intention to use Xuexitong for English learning among Chinese agricultural vocational students. A cross-sectional survey of 92 agriculture major students was analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling with bias-corrected bootstrapping. The measurement model demonstrated satisfactory reliability and validity, and the structural model explained 47.8% of the variance in behavioural intention. Perceived ease of use significantly predicted both perceived enjoyment (β = 0.636, p < 0.001) and behavioural intention (total effect: β = 0.607, p < 0.001). Perceived enjoyment significantly predicted behavioural intention (β = 0.703, p < 0.001). The indirect effect through enjoyment was significant (β = 0.447, 95% CI [0.323, 0.852]), accounting for 73.6% of the total effect and confirming partial mediation. These findings extend the TAM hedonic mediation framework to the intersection of agricultural vocational education and platform-mediated English learning, demonstrating that ease of use shapes intention substantially through the affective experience of enjoyment.
