The Horizon Europe CRM-geothermal project: Deliverable 6.6 – Factsheets and infographics

This report presents the series of factsheets and infographics produced by the CRM-geothermal project to inform operators, mining professionals, technology developers, researchers, policymakers and other relevant stakeholders about the industrial application, deployment, economic potential and societal benefits of recovering critical raw materials (CRMs) from geothermal resources. The communication materials were designed to translate the project's technical results into accessible and practical information that can support the uptake of combined geothermal energy and CRM production. Particular attention was given to technologies and approaches that can contribute to the sustainable and economically viable recovery of CRMs, while maintaining the primary function of geothermal systems for heat and energy production. Six factsheets were developed covering: · the Lithium Estimation AI Tool; · Social Licence to Operate (SLO) guidelines; · the Fluid Atlas; · joint resource calculation for complex geothermal projects using the United Nations Framework Classification for Resources (UNFC); · CRM extraction technologies; and · the FluMEx mini-plant for lithium extraction from geothermal brines. Two complementary infographics were also produced to provide a more visual and accessible presentation of the Lithium Estimation AI Tool and the Fluid Atlas. The materials were disseminated through the CRM-geothermal project website, social media, webinars, email communication and the project's stakeholder network. The factsheet landing page recorded 968 visitors as of 30 October, while the factsheets and infographics generated 1,912 website downloads and 7,634 social media impressions in total. The four webinars attracted 545 registrations and 354 participants. The communication activities contributed to increasing the visibility and accessibility of the project's results and provided stakeholders with practical entry points into the project's technological, methodological and societal work. The factsheets are also intended to remain useful beyond the individual dissemination activities as reusable communication and knowledge-transfer resources for operators, professionals, policymakers and other stakeholders interested in geothermal CRM production.
