Pengaruh Kecerdasan Emosional dan Stres Kerja terhadap Kinerja Karyawan pada PT Original Bird Nest MMTC Medan

Employee performance at PT Original Bird Nest MMTC Medan has not consistently met production targets; in 2025, actual production reached only 93.69% of the target. This study aims to analyze the effect of emotional intelligence and work stress on employee performance, both partially and simultaneously. The study employs a quantitative approach with a causal associative design. The population consists of 56 employees, all of whom were included as the sample through saturated sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using validity and reliability tests, classical assumption tests, multiple linear regression, t-tests, an F-test, and the coefficient of determination. The results show that emotional intelligence has a positive and significant effect on employee performance (t = 11.755; Sig. = 0.000). Work stress also has a positive and significant effect (t = 2.913; Sig. = 0.005), although its contribution is considerably smaller. Simultaneously, both variables have a significant effect (F = 227.039; Sig. = 0.000) with an R Square of 0.895, meaning that 89.5% of the variation in employee performance is explained by the model and 10.5% by other factors. Emotional intelligence is the more dominant variable (Beta = 0.790 versus 0.196). Efforts to improve employee performance should focus on strengthening emotional intelligence and keeping work stress at a manageable level.
