Sustainable Positive Computing based Model on Self-Awareness for Digital Health and Well-being
Abstract-The rapid integration of digital technologies into daily life has transformed healthcare, lifestyle, and social interactions. Mental health, self-regulation, and overall well-being can be considered as three significant aspects of UN Sustainable Development Goal 3. In this context, Sustainable Positive Computing offers a paradigm shift by embedding psychological principles of self-awareness, resilience, and balance into digital systems. This paper proposes a novel Sustainable Positive Computing based Model on Self-Awareness designed to enhance digital health and well-being in a holistic and enduring manner. The model integrates dimensions of ecological self, reflective self, and social self, while addressing the interplay between technology use and human flourishing. By leveraging sustainable design principles, it ensures minimal cognitive overload, promotes mindful technology interaction, and supports long-term behavioral change. The framework emphasizes measurable constructs of self-awareness, stimulus-awareness, emotional regulation, and value alignment while embedding positive computing strategies such as personalized feedback, empathetic interfaces, and adaptive digital ecosystems. The proposed model advances digital health interventions by enabling individuals to consciously navigate digital environments, reduce stress, and foster a growth oriented mindset. This research contributes both theoretical and practical insights toward creating digital platforms that not only serve functional needs but also nurture sustainable well-being and self-awareness in the age of pervasive technology.
