Efektivitas Edukasi Manfaat Kolostrum terhadap Peningkatan Pengetahuan dan Kesiapan Pemberian Kolostrum pada Ibu Hamil di Puskesmas Balowerti
Colostrum is the first breast milk, rich in immune substances, and plays an important role as a “natural immunization” for newborns. However, some pregnant women still have suboptimal knowledge and readiness regarding its administration. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of health education about the benefits of colostrum on improving the knowledge and readiness of third-trimester pregnant women in administering colostrum at Balowerti Public Health Center. This was a pre-experimental study with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The population comprised all third-trimester pregnant women at Balowerti Public Health Center, with a sample of 102 respondents selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through a knowledge questionnaire (20 items) and a readiness questionnaire (12 items) administered before and after health education using booklet and video media, then analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. Before education, most respondents had poor knowledge (68.6%) and poor readiness (40.2%). After education, most respondents improved to the good category for knowledge (53.9%) and readiness (68.6%). The Wilcoxon test showed a significant effect of education on knowledge (Z=-8.563; p=0.000) and on readiness (Z=-8.768; p=0.000). Structured health education combining booklet and video media proved effective in improving pregnant women's knowledge and readiness regarding colostrum administration, and can therefore be adopted as a routine intervention within antenatal care services at Balowerti Public Health Center.
