Pengentasan Stunting melalui Program Pemeliharaan Ayam Buras untuk Meningkatkan Konsumsi Protein pada Balita di Banjar Peludu, Kintamani

Stunting remains a public health concern that requires integrated interventions addressing nutrition, household food security, and socioeconomic conditions. This community service activity aimed to strengthen household food security and economic capacity through the provision of native chickens (ayam buras) to families in Banjar Peludu, Kintamani, Bangli, while supporting the stunting reduction program promoted by the Bali Provincial BKKBN. The activity used a family-based empowerment approach involving beneficiary identification, program socialization, distribution of native chickens, training on manual feed preparation, education on animal management and supplementation, and family mentoring. Evaluation was conducted through observation and discussion to assess beneficiaries’ understanding and practical skills. The activity involved 10 families in Banjar Peludu who were potentially vulnerable to food insecurity and had low socioeconomic status. The activity was successfully implemented, and beneficiary families demonstrated improved understanding of quality feed preparation and were able to apply supplementation practices during the final stage of implementation. The provision of native chickens was designed as a productive asset that could support household access to animal-source protein through eggs and meat while creating opportunities for additional income. Continued monitoring and cross-sectoral coordination with relevant agencies are recommended to ensure appropriate targeting, sustainability, and contribution to household food security and stunting prevention.
