Prevention of Itchy Skin Conditions through Health Education in Adan Village

Itchy skin conditions are a problem that can disrupt the comfort and daily activities of the community. The issue of itching in Adan Village stems from a lack of understanding among residents, inadequate adoption of clean and healthy living habits, and an insufficiently clean local environment. This community service initiative aimed to enhance public understanding of how to prevent itchy skin conditions by providing health education and strengthening community participation. The activity took place in Adan Village, Tangan-Tangan District, Southwest Aceh Regency, on July 16 and 20, 2026, targeting 25 participants. A one-group pretest-posttest design was employed. The activity stages included coordination with village officials, preparation of educational materials, administration of a pre-test, delivery of education through interactive lectures, discussions, Q&A sessions, and educational quizzes, followed by a post-test. Data were analyzed descriptively using mean scores, standard deviation, and the percentage change in knowledge. The results showed that the community's average knowledge score rose from 64.80 before the education session to 88.80 afterward. Specifically, 84% of respondents demonstrated increased knowledge, 12% maintained the same score, and 4% showed a decrease. Health education activities can improve community knowledge regarding itchy skin conditions and their prevention. It is hoped that the community will adopt clean living habits and maintain personal and environmental hygiene in their daily lives.
