Analysis of Medication Adherence Behavior in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and Comorbidities at Ajibarang 1 Public Health Center
Introduction: Medication adherence is an important factor in the effective management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM), particularly among patients with comorbidities who may face more complex treatment regimens. This study aimed to determine the level of medication adherence and identify factors associated with adherence among T2DM patients with comorbidities at Ajibarang 1 Public Health Center. Methods: This study employed a descriptive analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. Data were collected using the Medication Adherence Rating Scale-10 (MARS-10) questionnaire from 38 respondents selected through total sampling. Data analysis was conducted descriptively and using the Chi-square test to examine associations between variables. Results: The findings showed that most respondents (84.2%) were adherent to their medication. Gender (p = 0.018), comorbid disease (p = 0.019), and the number of medications taken (p = 0.031) were significantly associated with medication adherence. Conclusion: Most T2DM patients with comorbidities demonstrated good medication adherence. Medication adherence was significantly associated with gender, comorbid disease, and the number of medications taken.
