Information as the First Principle: A Dimensional-Emergence Scaling Factor for Vacuum Energy
The Cosmological Constant Problem remains a critical unresolved issue, characterized by a ~120 orders of magnitude discrepancy between theoretical vacuum energy predictions and observed dark energy density. Here, we propose a phenomenological model treating Information as the first principle of the universe. Building upon the holographic principle, we posit that the two-dimensional cosmic boundary encapsulates approximately 10122 bits of information. We introduce a dimensional-emergence scaling factor, termed "information-loss cut-off" (α), to account for the computational overhead when holographic information manifests as three-dimensional matter and vacuum energy. By incorporating this α factor into the Holographic Dark Energy (HDE) framework, we derive the effective vacuum energy density. Our analysis indicates that an information-loss scaling of α∼10−2, naturally bridges the 10122 bits of the boundary and the 10120 vacuum energy scale, providing a novel phenomenological foundation for resolving the vacuum catastrophe. This approach offers a unique information-theoretic perspective on the emergence of cosmic geometry, though future quantum gravity theories are required to fully justify the microscopic origin of the α parameter.
