The Role of Seed Technology in Modern Agricultural Transformations
Seed technology is a fundamental driver of modern agricultural transformation, influencing crop productivity, food security, climate resilience, and sustainable farming. Advances in plant breeding, seed priming, genetic improvement, seed coating, molecular diagnostics, and precision seed production have expanded opportunities to improve crop establishment and agricultural efficiency. This review examines the contribution of seed technology to contemporary agricultural systems, emphasizing seed quality, biotechnology, climate-resilient varieties, digital innovation, and sustainable seed management. It also explores challenges associated with affordability, biodiversity conservation, technology adoption, and seed distribution. The analysis highlights the importance of integrating scientific innovation with inclusive seed systems to support productive, resilient, and environmentally sustainable agriculture.
