Progress in organic nanomaterials mediated healthcare biosensing
Deteriorating food quality and stress-ridden professional commitments have severely affected the health quality and physical efficacy, making it mandatory to monitor the food quality for cautiously limiting the intake of processed eatables. With exposure to debilitating environmental toxins remaining unabated, regular checkups have emerged as essential for adopting timely cautions. In this context, nanomaterials (NMs) are progressing as current focus for accurate and cost-effective screening of pathogens, environmental and industrial contaminants posing health risks. Progress in functionalization assays and characterization methods has improved the understanding quantum effects and combinatorial functioning in NMs for their biosensing applications. Diversified into organic, inorganic and carbon based textures, NMs provide innovative remedies through their size-morphology graded physicochemical properties and enhanced surface area-enriched chemistry. This article focuses on healthcare-biosensing utilities of organic NMs, with thrust on the structural correlations and comparative aspects for a sustainable future. Illustrations herein comprise the recent use of polymer nanocomposites, dendrimers, hydrogels, thin film-assemblies and molecularly engineered polymers. The discussion on biosensing probe-attributes of these NMs could reinforce their modifications for enhanced accuracy and functionality.
