A comparative study of Pre-warmed IV co-lod versus Cold IV fluids on Shivering and Blood pressure following spinal anesthesia

The temperature of IV fluids can affect a patient’s body temperature. Using pre-warmed IV fluids helps keep body temperature stable and reduces heat loss. On the hand cold IV fluids may lower body temperature especially when given in large volumes. A drop in body temperature can lead to shivering, which is not uncomfortable but also increases stress on the heart and circulatory system. For this reason keeping body temperature is important during and after spinal anesthesia. This study aims to compare pre-warmed IV fluids with IV fluids to see how they affect shivering and blood pressure after spinal anesthesia. The results may show whether the temperature of IV fluids has an impact on shivering, body temperature and changes, in blood pressure in patients.
