From Different Perspectives: Object-Centered Trajectory Visualization for Exploring Interactions Between Moving Objects — Study Preregistration and Protocol

Study Preregistration and Protocol This record contains the study protocol and research instruments for a user study investigating how object-centered trajectory visualization supports the identification and interpretation of interactions between moving objects in immersive virtual reality. The study investigates the influence of different reference-frame transformations, the complementary roles of object-centered and world-space trajectory views, and participants' understanding and interaction strategies. The evaluation follows a mixed-methods approach combining think-aloud observations, task-based assessments, confidence and ease ratings, questionnaires, and semi-structured interviews. The planned sample consists of 15–20 participants with backgrounds in visualization and fluid mechanics. The materials document the planned study design and analysis procedures. They do not contain collected participant data or study results. OSF preregistration: https://osf.io/kwzh4/
