Spacetime, Energy, and Curiosity
We develop a classical field framework in which matter appears as localized, persistent spacetime deformation. A unit four-component field carries an energy functional whose metric variation supplies the stress–energy source for curvature; for a fixed, complete source, the classical equations and observables coincide with those of the Einstein–matter system. Smooth evolution with vacuum boundary conditions preserves the field’s integer degree, leading to the single-topology non-return theorem: a lone nonzero-degree configuration cannot unwind to the zero-degree state. We pair this result with energy conservation in a topological–energy conservation law for isolated systems whose boundary conditions admit a conserved global energy. Opposite parity-related degrees may move between localized and diffuse sectors while the total degree remains zero. We then develop a cosmological relaxation model connecting early acceleration, particle formation, matter-era deceleration, and renewed late-time acceleration. The model predicts environment-dependent expansion and acceleration, along with suppressed growth of long-wavelength matter perturbations, offering observational tests related to the Hubble and S8S8 tensions. Its empirical viability remains to be established.
