Analysis of The Role Of Islamic Boardin School Cooperatives in Realizing Maslahah Based on Sharia Economic Law

This study aims to analyze the role of the Darul Falah Islamic Boarding School Cooperative in Bandar Lampung in realizing maslahah from the perspective of Sharia Economic Law. This study employs field research with a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation involving cooperative administrators, LAZISWA managers, cooperative members, and other relevant parties. The findings indicate that the cooperative performs both economic and social functions. Its economic role is reflected in business activities and the distribution of Remaining Operating Results (SHU) to members based on agreed mechanisms. Meanwhile, its social role is demonstrated through regular donations to LAZISWA and the allocation of part of the SHU to support infrastructure development, educational activities, and other pesantren needs. From the perspective of Sharia Economic Law, these practices reflect the principles of maslahah, ta’awun, amanah, and al-‘adl. The novelty of this study lies in its integrated analysis of SHU distribution and contributions to LAZISWA as interconnected mechanisms for realizing maslahah. Rather than examining cooperative activities solely in terms of members' economic welfare, this study highlights how economic and social functions jointly contribute to the welfare of cooperative members and the sustainability of Islamic boarding schools.
