IMPACT OF LOW LOAD RESISTANCE TRAINING WITH & WITHOUT BLOOD FLOW RESTRICTION TRAINING ON PAIN, FUNCTIONAL DISABILITY AND GRIP STRENGTH AMONG SUBJECTS WITH CHRONIC LATERAL EPICONDYLITIS
Background: Blood flow restriction (BFR) is a training method by partially restricting arterial inflow and fully restricting venous outflow in working musculature during exercise. Objectives: To determine the impact of low load resistance exercise with BFR on pain, functional disability & Grip strength in subject with chronic lateral epicondylitis. Methodology: 20 subjects were selected based on the selection criteria and received low load resistance training along with blood flow restriction training for 20 minutes, three times a week for eight weeks Results: The pre-test and post-test value for pain were assessed by VAS scale, Functional disability by PRTEQ, Grip strength by Hand held dynamometer. The pre-test value and post-test for pain for group A were 7.8 and 5.2 and for group B were 8.2 and 2.1. The pre-test value and post-test for Functional disability for group A were 73.1 and 53.8 and for group B were 71.9 and 42.8. The pre-test value and post-test for Grip strength for group A were 31.6 and 33.5 and for group B were 32.6 and 40.4 respectively. Conclusion: The findings showed that LLRT combined with BFR resulted in a considerable improvement in pain, functional disability, and grip strength in individuals with persistent lateral epicondylitis Keywords: Low load resistance training, Blood flow restriction training, Pain, Functional disability, Grip strength, PRTEQ.
