Part V: The Constructivist Linguistics of Emotion: Detailed Deck
Detailed deck for Part V: The Constructivist Linguistics of Emotion of How to Design an Emotion (Universal Moral Concepts II) by Cézjah (New Intellectual LLC). Abstract. This deck draws the line between feeling and emotional meaning and gathers the whole argument of How to Design an Emotion into one answer. Meaning is a structured representation a system interprets in light of its stake, reached across four thresholds: detachment, endorsement, grammar, and metarepresentation. The symbolic system of emotional meaning is Emotionese: learned, public, normative, and confined to one domain. A ten-level Emotional Meaning Architecture tests the threshold. Animals feel but stop short of the line; infants feel, then climb across. Along the way: commitment below assertion, misattribution, and the sound of feelings.
