Phegea54-4. New records of two Phytobia species (Diptera: Agromyzidae) from Belgium based on cambium mines
Two species of the genus Phytobia Lioy, 1864, P. cerasiferae (Kangas, 1955) and P. carbonaria (Zetterstedt, 1848) (Diptera: Agromyzidae), are reported from Belgium for the first time based on characteristic subcortical feeding tracks in woody shoots. The records add to the still incomplete knowledge of Belgian Agromyzidae and indicate that cambium-mining species are likely under-recorded because their larval traces are hidden beneath the bark. For each species, host plant data, locality data, and brief guidance for locating and recognising mines in the field are provided.
