Parameterization of temporal and aspectual characteristics as a condition for the actualization of taxis of simultaneity and non-simultaneity in German
The problem of parameterizing taxis relations in utterances with prepositional deverbatives remains insufficiently studied in modern linguistics, despite considerable interest in the functional-semantic category of taxis. The aim of this article is to propose and test a system of parameters for temporal and aspectual characteristics that determine the actualization of taxis of simultaneity and non-simultaneity in German utterances with prepositional deverbatives. The main objectives of the research were: (1) to identify the relevant temporal and aspectual parameters for describing taxis relations; (2) to describe the parametric configurations corresponding to different types of taxis (complete and partial simultaneity, strict and non-strict precedence / succession, and adverbial-taxis relations); (3) to demonstrate the operation of the parametric model on specific examples. The research employed the following general scientific and linguistic methods: descriptive method, contextual analysis, classification method, as well as techniques of component, distributional, and parametric analysis. The study established that parameterization of taxis relations involves identifying parameters pertaining to the morphological level (grammatical tense of the verb), the lexico-grammatical level (aspectual classes of deverbatives and verbs: telicity / atelicity, duration
