THE NATIONAL SYRIAN FLAG: UNIFYING POLITICAL SPECTRA AND MINORITIES' DEALING WITH IT (2011–2025)

This study aimed to identify the impact of the national Syrian flag in unifying the political spectra and the way through which minorities dealt with it. The study addressed the religious minorities (Alawi and Druze), and the ethnic minorities (Kurds and Turkmen), considering them as the most influential groups during (2011-2025). The study used three approaches: the historical approach, system approach, and structural- functional approach. The study concluded that the topic of the Syrian national flag gained more attention since the outbreak of the Syrian revolution in 2011. The flag also gained more importance after adopting it officially in the interim constitutional declaration in 2025 which, in turn, resulted in unifying the various political spectra under its banner. As for minorities, they dealt carefully with the national flag and raised it alongside their selected symbols in accordance with their interests.
