The Development of the SONICC Learning Model Assisted by Augmented Reality Media in Elementary Science Education

This study developed, validated, tested the practicality, and examined the effectiveness of the SONICC learning model assisted by augmented reality media in elementary science education for students in an Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program. The study used a research and development design based on the Borg and Gall model. The development process produced a SONICC learning model with six syntax stages: Setting Goals, Organization, New Idea, Innovation, Critical and Creative Thinking, and Communication. It also produced five supporting products: a learning model book, teaching material book, lecturer guidebook, student guidebook, and augmented reality media guidebook. Data were collected using validation sheets, practicality questionnaires, documentation, and learning outcome tests. The validation results reached an average score of 92.30% with a validity value of 3.69, indicating a very valid category. The practicality results reached 94.27% with a practicality value of 3.66, indicating a very practical category. The effectiveness test showed an N-Gain score of 78.78%, which was categorized as effective. These findings show that the SONICC learning model assisted by augmented reality media is valid, practical, and effective for improving elementary science learning in higher education.
