Cuidado y formación infantil en cuatro denominaciones cristianas
This qualitative study, with a descriptive and interpretive approach, compares the care and formation of children in four Christian denominations in Colombia: the Catholic Church, the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Evangelical churches, and Pentecostal churches. The analysis was organized around five categories: the conception of childhood, educational objectives, pedagogical strategies, the role of the family, and community organization. A multiple-case design was used, combining semi-structured interviews with eight key informants and a review of institutional documents in the city of Buenaventura. The findings reveal a shared foundation: all four denominations view the child as an active spiritual subject, seek holistic development, and recognize the family as the primary formative agent. Differences emerge in the degree of programmatic structure, theological frameworks, and leadership training mechanisms. The study suggests that religious pluralization has diversified the organizational forms of childhood formation without fragmenting the underlying conception of childhood.
