Computational Non-Identifiability: A Design-Time Screen for Parameter Visibility in Embedded Motor Drives
A self-commissioning routine can report a parameter its own arithmetic has deleted. This dataset and code accompany a manuscript that formalises that failure as computational non-identifiability (IDZ): a direction the plant carries and the model implies, but which the deployed source never forms as a column. The contribution is fourfold. (i) A symbolic criterion that separates IDZ from four look-alikes (numerical collapse NCL, below-floor BLF, biased BIAS, non-independent NAT). (ii) A design number that prices the verdict before data are acquired, reducing to a Gramian of the deployed regressor. (iii) A demonstration on a brushed DC gear motor sampled at two rates, where the same source returns L̂ = −26.3 mH at 10 ms and 4.15–4.23 mH at 100 µs. (iv) A firmware audit of 33 trees in which five production projects carry a confirmed IDZ: LinuxCNC (Coulomb friction column), SimpleFOC (q-axis inductance), VESC (injection voltage), openinverter (dq cross-coupling) and FoxBMS (battery internal resistance). The package contains the manuscript, all figure sources, the authors' own bench measurements (approximately 75 MB), the analysis scripts, and a per-instance firmware evidence dossier with quoted code and line numbers. No third-party dataset is redistributed; external archives are cited by DOI. Known limitations are stated in README section 7, including one flagship number that is not reconstructable from this package and one parameter taken from handbook practice rather than measurement.
