The Synergy of Productive Zakat and Self Declare Halal Certification on the Business Sustainability of Mustahik

This study is motivated by the urgency of the 2026 mandatory halal regulation and the importance of transforming zakat utilization from a consumptive pattern toward economic empowerment through the synergy of business capital and product legality. This study aims to analyze the implementation of productive zakat and self-declare halal certification, as well as their integrative role in supporting the business sustainability of mustahik fostered by BAZNAS Tulungagung. This study employs field research with a qualitative approach. Data were obtained from six informants consisting of the BMD manager, a halal facilitator, and four mustahik engaged in food and beverage businesses, as well as supporting program documents. Data analysis employed the Miles and Huberman interactive model through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The results show that productive zakat is implemented through the BMD program using an interest-free and collateral free Qardhul Hasan revolving fund scheme. Self declare halal certification facilitation is carried out through direct personal assistance to address mustahik's digital literacy constraints. The synergy of these two programs strengthens internal business capacity and expands mustahik's market access, thereby promoting sustainable business continuity.
