Workplace physical activity, psychological well-being and organizational climate among physical education teachers in Settat, Morocco

This study examines the association between workplace physical activity, psychological well-being, organizational climate, and perceived performance among public physical education teachers in Settat Province, Morocco. It also explores the mediating role of psychological well-being in the relationship between workplace physical activity and organizational climate. A quantitative, cross-sectional, and explanatory research design was adopted. Data were collected from 120 public physical education teachers using a structured questionnaire based on validated scales measuring workplace physical activity, psychological well-being, organizational climate, and perceived performance. Statistical analyses were conducted using IBM SPSS Statistics (version 28), including descriptive statistics, Cronbach's alpha, Pearson correlation, and regression analyses. All measurement scales demonstrated satisfactory reliability (Cronbach's α ranging from 0.739 to 0.919). Workplace physical activity was positively and significantly associated with both psychological well-being (β = 0.555, p < 0.001) and organizational climate (β = 0.589, p < 0.001). Psychological well-being was also positively and significantly associated with organizational climate (β = 0.610, p < 0.001) and partially mediated the relationship between workplace physical activity and organizational climate. Perceived performance was positively and significantly correlated with workplace physical activity (r = 0.523, p < 0.001), psychological well-being (r = 0.529, p < 0.001), and organizational climate (r = 0.584, p < 0.001). These findings suggest that workplace physical activity may represent a valuable organizational resource associated with employees' psychological well-being, organizational climate, and perceived performance. The study contributes to the growing literature on workplace health promotion in public educational institutions and offers practical implications for integrating physical activity into human resource management strategies aimed at supporting employee well-being and organizational effectiveness.

It also explores the mediating role of psychological well-being in the relationship between workplace physical activity and organizational climate. A quantitative, cross-sectional, and explanatory research design was adopted.
