A Comprehensive Review of ANN-Driven Smart Learning Environments via Brain-Computer Interfacing

The contemporary educational landscape is undergoing a radical transition toward data-intensive, interactive paradigms characterized by the integration of sophisticated artificial intelligence and neurosensing technologies. This review examines the convergence of Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCI) and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) as a transformative force in the creation of "Smart Learning Rooms." By synthesizing current research on Electroencephalography (EEG)-based cognitive monitoring and neural network-driven adaptive systems, this paper delineates a novel conceptual framework for a closed loop pedagogical environment. The study explores the mechanics of real-time attention assessment, the categorization of student learning styles, and the prediction of academic trajectories using diverse ANN architectures, including Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks and multi-layer perceptions. Furthermore, the analysis evaluates the efficacy of neurofeedback in enhancing focus and skill acquisition while addressing the technical, ethical, and socio-economic challenges inherent in the "neuro-digital divide." The proposed framework demonstrates how brain signal monitoring and neural computation can collaborate to personalize instructional pacing, improve engagement, and provide objective performance indicators. The ultimate objective is to provide a rigorous synthesis of the current state of neuro-education and offer a blueprint for the development of fully adaptive, brain-responsive instructional environments.
