Co-designing a Conversation Kit for Young People with Learning Disabilities and Their Parents
This paper adds a deeper evidence base and reviews the kit against six bodies of theory: Easy Read and inclusive communication, visual supports, self-determination, the social model of disability, ecological systems and service design. The review found eleven issues. The redesigned kit, renamed Card to Say, gives every question one face, an answer strip for pointing, three levels of depth, a Pause card, a Help card and the tactile token board from Trindlemoss, and is delivered through key workers rather than only a website. A one-week family scenario shows it at work. The review is analytical; a three-phase pilot is proposed.
