Understanding ideological motivations of perceived civil disobedience efficacy
How does political ideology impact an individual's perception of protest as a political tool? Existing literature finds that political beliefs influence perceptions of civil disobedience including protest. However, existing research struggles with connecting political ideology and how it impacts perceived efficacy of protests. This research will test this relationship with data from the American National Election of 2020. Expected results should find a positive relationship showing that the more liberal someone is the more approval they will have for protest as an effective political tool. These results would implicate conservatives have separated themselves from a political tradition intended to preserve individual liberty.
