Implementation discrepancies and calibration issues in a cellular-automaton model of Celyvir treatment

This technical note examines the published description and public MATLAB implementation accompanying García Otero, Belmonte-Beitia and Jiménez-Sánchez, Computers in Biology and Medicine 188 (2025), 109782 (DOI: 10.1016/j.compbiomed.2025.109782). At repository revision 5086dbbffbee5a649e5cedd858e718d5c66a4ad9, the audit identifies: (1) a gap-filling proliferation rule evaluated only in the final lattice column; (2) a left-edge neighbourhood routine that repeats sites and includes the focal cell; and (3) an immune-recruitment coefficient differing between the paper and code. It also discusses inconsistent spatial calibration, anomalous-diffusion units, contradictory treatment rankings and the interpretation of the simulated progression endpoint. The package contains the revised note, editable LaTeX source, Python checks and verification log, source-text digests, and two MATLAB regression demonstrations. The Python source-structure and arithmetic checks were executed. The MATLAB demonstrations were not executed, and full stochastic simulations and the published survival curves have not been reproduced. The findings establish discrepancies in the inspected implementation; their effect on the published treatment outcomes remains to be quantified. The formulation and verification of counterexamples, arguments, lemmas and theorems, where applicable, and all final claims are the responsibility of the author. Abstract

AI disclosure: OpenAI ChatGPT assisted with English-language improvement, preparation of this note, and auxiliary numerical and source-code checks. The formulation and verification of counterexamples, arguments, lemmas and theorems, where applicable, and all final claims are the responsibility of the author. AI output is not treated as independent mathematical evidence.
