IMMUNOLOGICAL DISORDERS IN CHILDREN WITH SEPSIS
Resume. The state of cellular and humoral immunity and cytokine status was studied in children with sepsis before treatment. A deficiency of CD3+ (1.2-fold) and CD4+ lymphocytes with an increase in CD8+ and CD16+ cells, a decrease in the immunoregulatory index to 0.9 (2.0 in controls), a reduced B-lymphocyte count, lower IgG (1.5-fold) and IgM levels with elevated circulating immune complexes, and overproduction of IL-1β (4.4-fold) and IL-8 (3.5-fold) were revealed. The findings indicate a combination of immune insufficiency and pronounced proinflammatory activation and substantiate the need for immunocorrection. Keywords: sepsis, children, immunity, lymphocytes, immunoglobulins, cytokines, IL-1β, IL-8.
