Artificial Intelligence and Medical Diagnosis: An Educational Overview for Medical Students
ABSTRACT Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly used to analyze medical images, laboratory results and clinical information. In diagnosis, AI may help identify patterns, prioritize cases and support clinicians' decisions. However, high performance on a test dataset does not prove that a system improves care in real practice. Bias, limited explainability, privacy concerns and weak external validation can limit clinical benefit. Safe use requires transparent evidence, human oversight and monitoring in the settings where the tool is used. This is an educational overview for introductory medical studies. This paper summarizes published evidence and is not original clinical research.
