Diagnóstico inmunoserológico de enfermedades infecciosas prevalentes en habitantes de las Ciudadelas 3 de mayo y 10 agosto, Cantón Jipijapa.
Infectious diseases continue to pose a public health challenge due to their transmission and the influence of social, environmental, and biological factors. This study aimed to determine, using immunoserological or molecular methods, the prevalence of infectious diseases among residents of the Ciudadelas 3 de mayo and 10 de agosto neighborhoods in the Jipijapa canton. A descriptive, observational, and cross-sectional study was conducted, with a reference population of 46,429 inhabitants according to the 2022 Census. A stratified probability sampling method was used to establish a general sample of 650 people, from which 52 residents of the Dr. Miguel Morán Lucio urban parish were selected for this study, of whom 40 were women and 12 were men. The results showed a higher representation of individuals with secondary education (67.3%) and those in the 46-60 age group (51.9%). The identified prevalence was 1.9% for dengue and 11.5% for Helicobacter pylori, while rotavirus, adenovirus, and Salmonella showed no positive cases. It is concluded that the prevalence of the diseases evaluated was low; therefore, it is recommended to strengthen community surveillance and maintain ongoing prevention and health education efforts.
