Determination Of the First Aid Knowledge Levels of Students Studying in Health Programs at A Vocational School of a University

ABSTRACT This study aimed to determine the first aid knowledge levels of students studying in health-related programs at a vocational school of a university. The research employed the First Aid Knowledge Level Scale (FAKLS) developed by Çalışkan Pala et al. (2023). A total of 69 students from Pharmacy Services, Medical Imaging Techniques, and First and Emergency Aid programs participated in the study. None of the participants had previously received first aid training. The findings revealed a statistically significant improvement in students’ first aid knowledge after an educational intervention (p<0.001). The greatest improvement was observed in the 'Medical Emergency Situations' sub-dimension, indicating the positive effect of practical instruction. The results highlight the necessity of integrating structured and continuous first aid training programs into vocational curricula to strengthen healthcare students’ emergency preparedness. Key Words: First aid knowledge, Healthcare students, Educational intervention, Emergency preparedness, Vocational training
