Role of Technology in Daily Life: A Study of Its Benefits, Applications and Challenges
Abstract Technology has become an integral part of modern daily life, influencing the way individuals communicate, learn, work, travel, shop, access healthcare, manage finances, and obtain information. The rapid development of smartphones, the Internet, cloud computing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), digital payment systems, and online services has increased the speed, convenience, and accessibility of many everyday activities. At the same time, increased dependence on digital technologies has introduced challenges related to privacy, cyber security, excessive screen time, digital dependency, misinformation, and unequal access to digital resources. This study examines the role of technology in daily life by analysing its major applications, benefits, and challenges across communication, education, healthcare, banking, transportation, business, entertainment, and shopping. The study is based primarily on secondary information obtained from academic literature, institutional reports, government sources, and technology-related publications. The findings indicate that technology has significantly improved convenience, communication, productivity, access to information, and service delivery. However, effective and responsible use requires digital literacy, cyber security awareness, privacy protection, and balanced technology usage. The study concludes that technology can contribute substantially to individual and social development when technological innovation is combined with responsible and inclusive digital practices.
