An Investigation of The Spatial Distribution of Nighttime Illuminance Across Hanoi and Its Relationship With Selected Urban Development Characteristics.
Abstract: Hanoi is the most densely populated city in Vietnam, containing 8.5 million citizens in just 3359.8 km2. Hence, as it is the capital of a Lower-Middle-Income Developing country, pollution has always been a major and unnoticed problem. Two of the most overlooked types of pollution are noise and light. I will dive deeper into light pollution in Hanoi in this paper. The paper will try to answer the question relating both light pollution and the development of Hanoi: “The condition of light pollution in Hanoi and how it relates to urban development patterns?” Light levels of several districts in Hanoi were measured using a lightmeter app in this study.
