Bridging the Gap Between Inclusive Agribusiness Entrepreneurial Ecosystems and Transnational Diaspora Resources

There is growing academic and policy interest in inclusive agribusiness (IAB) entrepreneurship, the design of innovative business models that co-create value with marginalised, low-income, and disadvantaged stakeholders by integrating them into the value chains of agribusiness ventures. Despite the important role of context in IAB, research has been slow to adopt an ecosystem approach. To address this omission, this article explores how IAB entrepreneurship is mobilised through entrepreneur-induced contextual disruptions, how these disruptions stimulate supportive local entrepreneurial ecosystems (EEs), and how EEs create the conditions for transnational diaspora resource mobilisation. Through a longitudinal case study, a microfoundations-based theoretical framework is developed to explain how IAB-EEs develop from the complex interactions between entrepreneurs and the collective actions of local communities, which can, in turn, shape resource mobilisation. The study contributes to research at the intersection of IAB entrepreneurship, transnational diaspora entrepreneurship, and EEs and generates concrete implications for IAB entrepreneurs and ecosystem builders.
