EFEKTIVITAS DAUN MENGKUDU (Morinda citrifolia L.) SEBAGAI INSEKTISIDA NABATI TERHADAP MORTALITAS LARVA NYAMUK Aedes aegypti

Dengue remains a public health concern, highlighting the need to develop alternative approaches for controlling Aedes aegypti larvae and reducing reliance on synthetic larvicides. This study aimed to evaluate the larvicidal activity of noni leaf extract (Morinda citrifolia L.) against third- and fourth-instar Aedes aegypti larvae and identify the most efficient concentration among those tested. A laboratory experimental design was employed with six treatment groups: noni leaf extract at concentrations of 30%, 35%, 40%, and 45%, a negative control consisting of 0.9% NaCl solution, and a positive control consisting of abate. Each group contained 25 larvae and was tested in four replicates. Larval mortality was observed after 24 and 48 hours and analyzed descriptively. The results showed that all extract concentrations produced 100% larval mortality within 24 hours, equivalent to the positive control. In contrast, no larval mortality occurred in the negative control. The same mortality pattern was observed after 48 hours. These findings indicate that noni leaf extract exhibited larvicidal activity at all tested concentrations. The 30% concentration was the most efficient within the tested range because it achieved maximum mortality. Further testing at lower concentrations and under field conditions is necessary to determine the minimum effective concentration and assess its practical applicability.
