Comparaison de l’intérêt de lecture entre les bandes dessinées et les nouvelles chez les étudiants du 4e semestre de pédagogie du français à l’Universitas Negeri Semarang

This study aims to compare the reading interest in French comic books and short stories among fourth-semester students of the French Language Education Program at Universitas Negeri Semarang. Data were collected from 28 students from classes A and B using a Likert-scale questionnaire (ranging from 1 to 4). Two questionnaires were administered: one on reading interest in comic books and the other on reading interest in short stories. Each questionnaire consisted of 20 items covering four aspects: interest in the reading content, motivation to read, environmental support, and usefulness. The results showed that the average interest in reading comic books was 78.3%, slightly lower than the interest in reading short stories (81.4%). Thus, reading interest in short stories was 3.1% higher than in comic books. The data were tested using a T-test at the 95% significance level, yielding a p-value of 0.065, which is greater than 0.05. Therefore, there was no statistically significant difference in reading interest between French comic books and short stories among fourth-semester students. Consequently, short stories can be considered a more effective medium for teaching to foster students’ interest in reading French texts.
