K.H. Ahmad Sanusi Pahlawan Nasional dari Sukabumi Jawa Barat: Penulis produktif di era tahun 1913 s.d. 1950
This article examines the role of K.H. Ahmad Sanusi as a prolific scholarly writer in the intellectual history of Nusantara Islam during the period 1913 to 1950. K.H. Ahmad Sanusi, known as " Ajengan Cantayan, Ajengan Genteng, and Ajengan Gunungpuyuh", was a charismatic Islamic scholar from Sukabumi, West Java, who not only struggled in the fields of da'wah and politics, but also produced an extraordinarily productive body of written works. Using a historical-biographical approach and textual analysis, this article identifies more than 100 titles authored in Sundanese Malay/Indones, and Arabic, covering various fields of knowledge including Qur'anic exegesis, jurisprudence, theology, Sufism, and nationalism. The study finds that K.H. Ahmad Sanusi's writing productivity was not only a reflection of profound scholarship, but also a form of intellectual resistance against Dutch colonialism and Islamic reformist movements he considered incompatible with the Ahlussunnah wal Jama'ah tradition. This article contributes to a more comprehensive understanding of the ulama tradition and Islamic literacy movement in West Java in the first half of the 20th century.
