Recent advances in chiral organic room‐temperature phosphorescence with circularly polarized luminescence

Abstract Circularly polarized room‐temperature phosphorescence (CPRTP) materials combine the dual advantages of long‐lived triplet emission and chiral optical response, demonstrating broad application prospects in information security, bioimaging, and flexible optoelectronics. This review outlines recent progress in organic CPRTP materials from molecular chiral design, aggregation modulation, performance tuning and application scenarios. Chiroptical activity is realized via covalent modification, supramolecular assembly and liquid crystal induction. Aggregation strategies including crystal engineering and matrix doping enhance the luminescence dissymmetry factor, while simultaneously improve the emission efficiency. Emerging CPRTP systems, including near‐infrared (NIR) emitters, dynamically regulated chiral systems, and weavable fibers have been exploited for bioimaging and electro‐controlled encryption, shifting research from basic property study to practical use. Although the field still faces core challenges, including the inherent trade‐off between efficiency and dissymmetry factor, the unclear microscopic mechanism of chiral amplification, the weakness in NIR/deep‐blue regions, and the difficulty in transitioning from photoluminescence to electroluminescence, advances in intrinsic chiral efficiency, synergistic enhancement of long lifetime and high quantum yield, theoretical prediction, and high‐throughput screening methods are expected to drive CPRTP materials toward next‐generation optoelectronic devices and information security technologies.
