The Impact of Digital Financial Services on Financial Inclusion and Economic Growth in Emerging Economies
Can digital finance turn access into inclusive growth? This study examines that question through a comparative analysis of Egypt, India, and Brazil. Drawing on the World Bank’s Global Findex 2025 survey data, national payment-system reports, and academic research, it reveals the gap between owning an account and actively using digital payments, alongside persistent gender and income disparities. The paper explores how digital services may reduce transaction costs, strengthen household resilience, and expand business opportunities, while also addressing risks such as fraud, exclusion, privacy loss, and over-indebtedness. It distinguishes promising pathways from proven outcomes and identifies the infrastructure, consumer protections, and user capabilities needed to make digital finance more inclusive.
