The Effect of the Guided Discovery Learning Model Assisted by Logicard on Mathematics Learning Outcomes

This study aims to determine the difference in students' mathematics learning outcomes before and after the implementation of the Guided Discovery Learning model assisted by Logicard media on the topic of exponents. The study employed a quantitative approach with a One-Group Pretest-Posttest design, involving 36 students from class X2 at SMA Negeri 3 Salatiga during the odd semester of the 2026/2027 academic year. Guided Discovery Learning was implemented using Student Worksheets (LKPD) that followed the stages of Stimulation, Problem Statement, Data Collection, Data Processing, Verification, and Generalization. Logicard served as a learning aid comprising question cards, strategy/solution-step cards, and answer cards to help students identify relevant exponent properties and systematically construct solution steps. Learning outcomes were measured using five essay questions administered before and after the instruction, which spanned five sessions. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, and the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results showed an average pretest score of 52.72 and a posttest score of 72.67, with a mean N-Gain score of 0.42 (medium category). The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test indicated a significant difference in students' mathematics learning outcomes before and after the implementation of Guided Discovery Learning assisted by Logicard (Z = 4.777; p < 0.001) with a large effect size (r = 0.796). These findings demonstrate that Guided Discovery Learning assisted by Logicard has a substantial impact on mathematics learning outcomes, with the limitation that the single-group design does not allow for definitive causal conclusions
