Improving Public Health Awareness through Community-Based Education on Nutrition, Sanitation, and Healthy Lifestyles
Public health awareness is essential for preventing disease and promoting healthy living within communities. However, limited health knowledge and practical barriers may prevent individuals from consistently applying appropriate nutrition, sanitation, and healthy-lifestyle practices. This study aims to evaluate the contribution of community-based education to public health awareness across these three domains. A community-based intervention design using a one-group pretest-posttest approach and descriptive qualitative methods is proposed. The intervention comprises educational modules on balanced nutrition, personal hygiene, environmental sanitation, and healthy daily practices. Data are collected through structured knowledge questionnaires, observation checklists, and interviews or open-ended feedback. Quantitative data are analyzed using descriptive statistics and appropriate paired comparisons, while qualitative data are examined through thematic analysis. The integrated approach is intended to assess changes in knowledge and explore participants’ perceptions of the educational activities. Because empirical scores and interview findings are not yet available, the effectiveness of the intervention cannot be conclusively established. The study provides an evaluation framework for developing context-sensitive health education and highlights the importance of follow-up assessment to determine whether increased awareness translates into sustained healthy behaviors.
