Treponema pallidum como agente infeccioso de sífilis en pacientes atendidos en el Centro de Salud Bahía de Caráquez.
Syphilis is a sexually transmitted infection caused by Treponema pallidum, characterized by various clinical manifestations that can occur mainly on the skin and mucous membranes through specific lesions. However, the variability of its signs and the possibility of asymptomatical diagnosis make it difficult to diagnose it in a timely manner. The objective was to determine Treponema pallidun as an infectious agent for syphilis in patients treated at the Bahía de Caráquez Health Center. As a hypothetical assumption, it was proposed that more than 50% would present seropositivity, while the null hypothesis established that it would be equal to or less than 50%. The methodology applied was observational, descriptive and retrospective; A finite sampling was used, obtaining a sample of 283 patients, selected according to the previously established inclusion and exclusion criteria. The results revealed demographic criteria with a predominance in the female sex with 76.7% (n=217), the age group with the highest representation is from 12 to 17 years old which concentrates 70.7% (n=200), syphilis infection was detected in 1.8% (n=5), positivity falls in the female sex with 1.4% (n=4), compared to one case in the male sex 0.4% (n=1), There was a relationship between the variables analyzed, the people who presented the disease and the demographic characteristics, obtaining a value of (p<0.001). It was concluded that syphilis seropositivity in the studied population was low, indicating a limited circulation of the infection, however, the presence of positive cases confirms the need for continuous detection and prevention strategies.
