A Study on Media Preparation, Spawn Production, and Cultivation of Oyster Mushroom (Pleurotus spp.)
This study evaluated oyster mushroom (Pleurotus spp.) cultivation using wheat straw substrates and compared three strains: Strain 205 (pink), Strain 934 (white), and Strain 88 (grey). Following MEA medium preparation, mother cultures, and grain spawn production, cultivation bags were inoculated and monitored under controlled environmental conditions. Strain 205 exhibited the fastest fruiting (10–13 days) and highest yield (2.0–2.5 kg per bag). Strain 934 fruited in approximately 20 days with a 1.2–1.3 kg yield, while Strain 88 showed delayed fruiting and smaller bodies. These findings highlight performance differences among strains, indicating that replicated trials are necessary for reliable future yield evaluation.
