Efektivitas Terapi Murottal terhadap Tekanan Darah pada Lansia dengan Hipertensi

Background: Hypertension is a common disease among older adults and can increase the risk of complications. In addition to pharmacological therapy, complementary therapies can be used to help control blood pressure. One complementary therapy is Qur’anic murottal therapy of Surah Ar-Rahman, which can promote relaxation and calmness. Objectives: This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of Qur’anic murottal therapy of Surah Ar-Rahman in reducing blood pressure in older adults with hypertension. Methods: This study used a quantitative method with a case study approach and a pretest-posttest design. The subjects consisted of three older women in Sonosewu Hamlet, Ngestiharjo, Bantul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. The intervention was administered for 11 minutes, six times over two weeks. Blood pressure was measured before and after the intervention using a digital blood pressure monitor. Results: The study showed that the average blood pressure before the intervention was 169/92 mmHg, decreasing to 138/80 mmHg after the intervention. Conclusions: The average systolic blood pressure decreased by 31 mmHg, while diastolic blood pressure decreased by 12 mmHg. Qur’anic murottal therapy of Surah Ar-Rahman can be used as a complementary therapy to help control blood pressure in older adults with hypertension.
